Things to do in London

With so much to see and do in London, our weekend 'must-do' plan takes the stress out of exploring our vibrant city!

Here we've outlined some of the best attractions the city has to offer, however please don't hesitate to speak to one of our helpful team members if you would like any more recommendations.

London by day

The fantastic thing about London is that you can see the most popular sites just by exploring the city on foot! We'd recommend walking along the river to catch a glimpse of Big Ben and the London Eye before stopping for lunch at one of the many chain and independent restaurants set on the South Bank.

Trafalgar Square is also well worth a visit when you're on the hunt for London's most iconic landmarks. We would recommend taking a picnic on warm days, however with the number of resident pigeons, it may be best to dine elsewhere!

If London's fascinating (and sometimes grisly!) history appeals, you'll love visiting the Tower of London and London Dungeons. The Dungeon tour is a great example of 'live theatre' and you can see the spectacular crown jewels in the Tower! While these events get very busy, you can book online beforehand and take advantage of some of the regular offers available.

If you're looking to enjoy London on a budget, take a wander around Hyde Park, Camden Market or Portobello Road. These areas are real London hotspots and unless you end up spending lots at the eclectic market stalls(!) you can soak up the culture and atmosphere without spending a penny!

The British Museum, National Gallery, National History Museum, V&A and Tate Modern are ideal free attractions to visit on a rainy day too. With several fascinating exhibits (some occasionally charge) on at any one time, it's easy to enjoy a cultured afternoon on the leanest budget.

London by night

A trip to London just wouldn't be complete without seeing a great West End show!

While really popular shows tend to book up weeks in advance, it's always possible to get impromptu tickets just hours before a Saturday night show kicks off. Head to Leicester Square to browse any special offers at the ticket booths dotted around the surrounding streets.

With hundreds of bars, casual eateries and restaurants around Theatreland, it's never hard to find a tempting place for dinner before/after catching a show. Have a look for any theatre dining specials - there's plenty around and they're usually very reasonable value.

Love staying out late? London is widely known as one of the most exciting cities in the world! From quirky nights such as roller discos to all-nighters at superclubs like Fabric and Ministry of Sound, London's nightlife has something to suit everybody.
